![]() ![]() He picked up the phone absently as it rang for the 100th time that day. He hadn’t slept a wink and he was feeling dead on his feet. He rubbed his face, feeling the fatigue of the past 24 hours. He sat back, exhausted but satisfied as he looked at his watch. He had work to do! He called down to the cafeteria for coffee and a sandwich as he took off his coat and tie and rolled his sleeves. He strode out of his office into the conference room. He steadied himself against the wall and unplugged his laptop and grabbed his phone. He squared his shoulders as he got up, swaying a little on his feet. He needed to do the right thing…that was the only thing that mattered.Īrnav felt his strength drain away as he saw Aman walking away, leaving him to deal with the aftermath of the destruction he was solely responsible for. He was his boss, his only friend, his mentor, his brother, his family! But he recovered quickly. Aman’s step faltered as he turned around to leave. ‘I won’t be serving a notice period’ he stated bluntly.Īs a lone tear escaped Arnav’s eyes, he nodded mutely. Someone who was at the receiving end of all this for no fault of hers. ![]() But he just couldn’t bring himself to even have a tiny sliver of hope that that would ever happen and that had driven him over the edge as he had started the destruction that was now his office.Īman saw the anguish in his eyes as he looked up at him. He had thought long and hard on how he would even begin to ask for forgiveness. He had spent all night in his office, screaming, breaking things, despairing over his inability to think clearly in matters of his heart and most importantly, yearning for that one girl who he had wronged again and again. As he started to hyperventilate, Aman stepped closer with a glass of water in his hand. Jha has registered all his wife’s properties and bank deposits in his name’Īrnav threw the file across the room as he saw the envelope. ‘His brother-in-law is Arnav Singh Raizada, considered one of the most powerful man in the country’ Khushi broke the engagement when his deceit was found out’ ‘Lived a double life, one in Shantivan as Anjali Jha’s husband and one in Laxmi Nagar, as an orphan staying as a paying guest at Mrs. ‘No records of a law degree could be found’ Arnav slowly opened the red folder to see a similar report that he had in his folder. ‘I would be damned!’ he bit out as he extracted an envelope from his jacket and threw that on the floor too, more forcefully than he intended. Aman expected there to be anger, but all he could see was a plea…a plea that asked him to fix this! As always! He covered the distance between them in a few short strides as he threw the red folder he had in his hand on the ground in front of Arnav. His heart ached to see him like this…just for a second. Aman was taken aback seeing ASR in that condition and then it hit him! He knew too! That’s when he glanced at the thin black folder next to him.Īman squared his shoulders trying to be nonchalant. He saw Arnav sitting huddled in a corner on the floor…his suit rumpled, his hair disheveled, his face gaunt and his eyes red. Everything was broken, including the glass top table. ![]() As he stepped inside Arnav’s office, glass pieces crunched under his foot and as he looked around, he saw the office completely destroyed. He stopped short, momentarily shocked but strode towards it the next instant, anger coming back to hit him in waves. He saw that it was only 6 am as he entered the building of AR, fuming! His whole body was stiff with rage…a rage he never knew existed in him until today! As he climbed up the stairs straight to his office, he saw the door of his boss’s office ajar, lights blazing. As he slowly opened his eyes and looked around, coming out of his trance, he felt it…tears streaming down his face! What could have been will probably never be… How would that have felt? Where would they be today? He spread his arms a little as he slowly wrapped them around himself and hugged himself tight, imagining Khushi safely cocooned in his warmth, in his love! He smiled as he felt her long, silky hair tickle his chin, her arms going around his waist, her cheek against his beating heart. He remembered how happy he was that day, how he was ready to go out of his comfort zone and confess his love for her. Will he ever be able to face her? Ask her for her forgiveness? Can he? Did he deserve to? He slid down the wall slowly as everything that had happened and everything that could have been, flashed in front of his face. He had ruined her! His Khushi! His angel! He had not given her a chance to explain herself and he had hung her, sacrificed her for his own gain. He had ruined everything! He felt like screaming, he felt like banging his head against the wall until he could feel nothing! He put his fist to his quivering mouth, trying to stop the sob from escaping. ![]()
